Promoting Inclusive Workplace Communication
Presenters: Sara Taylor & Tracy Boff
Inclusive Communication requires a commitment to creating a supportive and effective environment, using every available means of communication to understand and be understood. Communication styles that relate to diverse identities can sometimes be the root of communication breakdowns. During this session we discuss key principles of effective and inclusive communication that enables everyone to contribute diverse perspectives and feel like they belong.

Sara Taylor is the Founding President and Chief Executive Officer of Positive Steps and Managing Director of Taylor-Jones Event Management Services. In addition, Sara is employed full time as a Training Specialist and Community Liaison in Western New York where she focuses on Social Justices and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives.
Sara’s 20+ year career, across multiple industries, range from direct-care front-line social worker to senior-level administrator. Sara has extensive experience providing leadership development training and capacity building services to organizations as well as managing professional conferences throughout North America. Over the last three years, Sara has become a well-respected leader and voice promoting Diversity, Equity and Inclusion across systems while reminding organizational leaders that “Everyone has a role”.
Tracy Boff has over 25 years of leadership experience in health and human services including care coordination, housing, employment and other support services for people with disabilities. Her career includes employment with Catholic Charities Community Services in Rochester NY, where she began working as a direct support professional and worked her way through various levels of leadership, providing oversight to NY State and Federally funded programs. Tracy then worked for the NYS Department of Health where she was responsible for Medicaid Policy and Redesign Initiatives. Most recently prior to starting Beyond the Box Solutions, Tracy was the President and CEO of Prime Care Coordination and led the successful build and launch of the multi million dollar organization providing Care Coordination Services to individuals with disabilities throughout Upstate NY. Throughout Tracy’s career, she has led and developed learning and development programs and has presented at regional and national conferences. Fueled by her passion for organizational development, Tracy has led several strategic planning, change management, branding and quality improvement efforts for both non profit and for profit companies.
