Website Accessibility: What It Is and Why It Matters

(Online or In Person)

Presenter: Sara Cousins

Imagine visiting an e-commerce website to buy a new product you’re excited about but you’re unable to add the product to the shopping cart. Or, you’re on a website that has specific information you need to finish a big project, but you can't access the content. It would be frustrating, wouldn’t it?

When we talk about accessibility, some people tend to think about physical accessibility like ramps and elevators in buildings. But what about digital/website accessibility – what is it and why is it important?

Website accessibility is essential in making the internet usable by everyone. Sara Cousins, owner of Mighty Spark Design, will talk about what web accessibility means, as well as types and modes of disabilities.

She'll also address how to find out if a site is ADA compliant and the steps involved to meet accessibility requirements.

Key Takeaways:

  • What is web accessibility and why is it important ?
  • Disability types and modes.
  • How to check your site’s accessibility success and how to get issues corrected.
