As an individual contributor, it is important to be able to show leadership skills to advance on a technical career path.  This presentation will identify skills to hone to show technical leadership using career examples from a practicing engineer.  Internal and external barriers to leadership for individual contributors will also be discussed along with strategies for overcoming these challenges.  All attendees should leave with a good sense of “what 'good' looks like” for technical leaders.

    Nancy Bassett is a thin film process engineer with over 25 years of industry experience. She has a BS in chemical engineering from Michigan State University, a PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Houston, and is co-inventor of 3 patents.

    Nancy has been featured in US Glass Magazine in a special edition highlighting women in the glass and glazing industry, and she was one of the Koch Women Leaders for a panel discussion at the 2023 Society of Women Engineers national conference.
